1. Getting Started
Welcome to SF-Books, the world's premier online book trading club! Here you will be able to trade those old paperbacks you won't read again for books you actually want to read. The first thing you need to do before you can trade books at SF-Books.com is register. Click here to register now. It is FREE to join and use SF-Books.com. Once you are a registered sf-books.com member, log-in to sf-books via the log-in pad on the sf-books home page. Once you've logged in you will be taken to your "MyBase" area. Please make sure that your Account Status is set to ACTIVE. In the event that you want to temporarily suspend your membership (holidays, etc), you can set your Status to INACTIVE.
2. Now that you are registered, add books to your Trading List.
The MyBase area is the heart of sf-books.com This is where you will be able to trade books with other sf-books members.
Your first step should be to add books to your Trading List. Your Trading List is the list of books you have, that you are willing to trade for the book that you would like. Because sf-books trading works on a credit system, it is important to start a library of books that you want to trade, as well as the books you want to receive.
Once you have added books that you want to trade, your second step should be to add or search for, books that you want.
Please note however, as your credit balance starts at zero, you will have to earn at least one credit before you may request a book. You earn credits by sending books to other members. When another member requests a book you have offered, you will be alerted by email. You may either agree to SEND the book, or DECLINE to trade (we recommend clicking SEND!). You then mail the book to the other member, and when they recieve it, you get one credit!
3. Requesting Books
You can search for books using the search pad, or by browsing the titles currently available on the sf-books database.
If you find a book you want, and you have at least 1 credit, you can request a trade. The number of books you have received and the number of books you have sent is tracked by a credit system. Each book you send earns you 1 credit. Each book you receive subtracts 1 credit from your total. You may build up as many credits as you wish by sending out as many books as you have, and then use those credits in your own time. Please note also that you may request books from ANY member, not just the ones that you have sent books to. This makes the entire database of books available to all members, vastly increasing the variety available.
4. Completing Trades and Awarding Ratings
Because SF-Books trading relies upon the integrity of our members for success, it is important that each trade is completed and each member is awarded a rating at the completion of each trade.
The ratings system protects SF-Books members from bad traders. We recommend dealing with members with a good trading history when possible. By awarding ratings, members who do not follow the sf-books
terms and conditions can be identified by sf-books.com and take
appropriate action taken.
